Low carb diets are based on the principle that a diet low in carbohydrates leads to decreased production of body’s insulin, resulting in consumption of fat stores as energy source.

Many people assume that fat free foods are good for weight loss because it is falsely believed that fats are the only type of food that are fattening. But they are not as so are carbohydrates, thus the reason for low carb (carbohydrate) foods. When the fats are removed from a food making it fat free the removed fats are replaced with carbohydrates. However, when the carbohydrates are removed from a food making it low carb the removed carbohydrates are not replaced with fats. Low carb foods contain little to no carbohydrates, little to no fat and are comprised mostly of protein which is the perfect ratio of macro nutrients. The bottom line is low carb foods are the key to weight loss although it takes time for the body and brain to get used to functioning on an intake of reduced carbohydrates.

Why Choose a Low-Carbohydrate Diet?
Many Americans are adopting low-carbohydrate diets. People are tired of surviving on tasteless low-fat foods such as watery salad dressings and rubbery cheeses. They are thrilled with the idea of being able to eat more of the foods that have been discouraged in low-fat eating plans, such as meats and cheeses.

Stories abound of people who swear by low-carbohydrate diets as an effective way to lose weight. Not only do they drop pounds, but they are able to do so while eating foods they love. Because they enjoy their food, they are better able to stick to their diets. What's more, many people report (and studies support this) that low-carbohydrate diets leave them feeling less hungry than high-carbohydrates, low-fat diets.

Before you start reducing the carbohydrates in your meals, it's important to understand how to do it in a healthful way to lose weight and decrease your risk of disease.

What's Involved in Low Carb Diet?

A cut on all carbohydrate from the diet and increased protein and fat intake. Cut on things like pasta, bread, rice and alcohol, yet unlimited amounts of meat, cheese and butter are suggested to eat. That's why sometimes Low Carb Diets claim to be luxurious diets.
